Quick notes and lists
Jot down a shopping list or a phone number, and find it still there when you come back.
Write, paste and keep up to 20 notes. Every change saves in this browser.

Works on your selection, or on the whole note when nothing is selected.
Private by design. Notes are saved only in this browser on this device and are never uploaded. Clearing your browser data deletes them, so use Backup all notes now and then.
An online notepad is a plain text editor that runs in your browser, so you can write and keep notes without installing software or signing up. This notepad saves every change in your browser as you type, keeps up to 20 notes, and adds find and replace, version history and backup files.
It works like a paper pad that is always open: type or paste, and the text is there next time you visit. To tidy text before you keep it, try the uppercase converter or the remove text formatting tool.
Your notes never leave your device. They are stored in your browser, which keeps them private and also means they do not follow you to another phone or computer unless you download a backup.
| Feature | How it works here |
|---|---|
| Autosave | About 0.35 seconds after you stop typing |
| Notes | Up to 20, each up to 1,000,000 characters |
| Search | Find and replace with match case and whole word |
| Undo and history | Ctrl+Z plus the last 5 versions of each note |
| Export | .txt for one note, .txt backup for all notes |
| Account | None needed |
Four steps, and your notes save by themselves.
Click the note and start typing, or paste text. The Live summary counts words, characters, lines and reading time as you go.
Press New note for a separate page, and switch between notes with the buttons above the editor. Rename a note in the history and backup section.
Find and replace across the note, change case, tidy extra spaces, sort lines or remove duplicate lines, on a selection or the whole note.
Copy the text, download a .txt file, print it, or back up every note to one file you can open again later.
Keep these in mind, especially the storage limits.

It is best for short, private text you want to keep nearby.
Jot down a shopping list or a phone number, and find it still there when you come back.
Write the draft first, then fix capitals with the sentence case converter before you paste it.
Keep one note per meeting and rename each tab. Use find and replace to clean up names afterwards.
Paste text from a page, then strip the mess with the paragraph to single line converter.
Watch the word and character counts while you write for a form, a bio or a caption with a limit.
Switch to monospace and no wrap, then sort lines or remove duplicate lines in a list.
It is made for private, plain text notes on one device. For other text jobs, the case converter and lorem ipsum generator run in your browser too.
Notes are stored with localStorage, which keeps text after you close the browser and is separate for each site. A different browser, profile or device has its own empty notepad.
In a private or incognito window the notepad works, but the browser deletes what you wrote when the window closes. Use a normal window for notes you want to keep.
A version is saved after a minute of editing, before Replace all, the case buttons, Clear and Restore, and when you press Ctrl+S. Notes over 200,000 characters skip versions to save space.
Ctrl+Z undoes typing, Replace all and the case buttons while the editor is open. Use a saved version to go back further.
There is no bold or bullets. The notepad keeps text, which makes files small and easy to use anywhere.
If the browser has no storage left, the status line says Not saved and the notepad asks you to download your notes. Free space by deleting old notes or clearing other site data.
A few honest limits before you rely on it.
Notes stay on one device. To move them, download a backup and open it on the other device.
Clearing site data, a private window or a full disk can remove notes. Download anything you cannot lose.
Storage space, spell check and printing come from your browser, so they can differ between Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
The storage behaviour and limits on this page come from MDN, and the reading time uses a published meta-analysis. The list of features describes this notepad and was tested in Chrome.
Clean, convert or generate text without leaving your browser.
Short answers to what people ask most.
An online notepad is a free plain text editor that runs in your web browser, so you can write and keep notes without installing an app or creating an account. This one saves every change in your browser as you type.
Yes. The notepad saves about a third of a second after you stop typing and shows the time of the last save. Press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac) to save at once.
In your browser, using localStorage, on the device you are using. Nothing is sent to our servers, so we cannot see your notes and cannot recover them for you.
They stay until you delete them or clear your browser site data. Private or incognito windows normally delete them when the window closes, and some browsers remove data from sites you have not used for a while, so download a backup of anything important.
Once the page has loaded, typing, saving and searching all run in your browser and need no connection. You need a connection to open the page itself unless your browser has it cached.
Not directly, because notes live in one browser on one device. Use Backup all notes to download a file, then open that file with Open .txt or backup on the other device.
You can keep up to 20 notes of up to 1,000,000 characters each, as long as your browser has storage left. Most browsers allow about 5 MiB of localStorage per site, so very large notes can fill it first.
Use Ctrl+Z to undo recent edits, including Replace all and the case buttons. The notepad also keeps the last five versions of each note, which you can restore from the This note, history and backup section. A deleted note can be restored with the Undo button for a few seconds.
No. It is a plain text notepad, so it keeps text only and removes formatting from pasted content. Download the note as a .txt file to use it anywhere.
The Live summary shows words, characters, lines and reading time as you type, and it counts only the selected text when you highlight part of a note. Reading time assumes 238 words per minute.
